I haven’t completely ditched my oven, but I’ve come near close: It’s big, it takes forever to heat up, and it throws off a ton of heat. Instead, when it comes time to cook dinner, I often turn to my air fryer toaster oven—the inimitable Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. It’s got everything I need (and desire) in a countertop oven: speed, efficiency, numerous presets, a timer, a light, and two convection fan settings. And it doesn’t turn my kitchen into a sauna. For Black Friday, it’s $100 off on Amazon and Breville, bringing the price to a near-record low for a workhorse of a countertop oven.

Why It Won Our Review
When it comes to air fryer toaster ovens, there’s a fine line between versatility and excess. Some toaster ovens we tested came loaded with presets, but fell short when it came to delivery and the details. This was not so with the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. Not only did it promise to toast, air fry, and roast crispy, golden-browned foodstuffs, but it also delivered on that promise: Chicken wings fried up golden with taut skin and tender interiors, while French fries were the crispy potato sticks of our dreams. And the roast chicken! If you dream of tender meat coated in a crackling layer of crisped skin, the Breville will make your dreams come true. I know I can’t go back to my standard oven now that I’ve tasted the proverbial (chicken) nectar of the gods.
The Breville’s thoughtful design also sets it apart. Adjusting the temperature was as simple as twisting a dial, and unlike most other ovens we tested, we could set it down to a single degree. We also loved the interior oven light, which helped us see what stage food was at, as well as the easy-to-use timer dial and rotate-remind function.
The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is good at the basics, too: I use it to toast bagels and bread daily. While sometimes a piece of toast is paler than I want, I can just twist a dial to increase the darkness level or to add more time. It’s an easy-to-use countertop oven that, for a limited time during Black Friday, is also a little easier on the wallet.
